The Spa Pavilion Theatre will this year be performing Footloose for their Summer Youth Project
Based on the 1980's riviting screen sensation starring Kevin Bacon it took the world by storm with it's youthful spirit, dazzling dance and electrifying music. When Ren and his mother move from Chicago to a small farming town, Ren is prepared for the adjustment to his new school. What he isn't prepared for are the local laws - including a ban on dancing - which are the brainshild of a local preacher bent on exercising control over the town's youths. The the reverand's rebellious daughter sets her heart on Ren, her boyfriend tries to sabotage Ren's reputation and many of the locals are eager to believe the worst about the new kid.
This fast paced show is not only packed full of amazing dance but serves up some classic 80's hits including; Holding out for a Here, Almost Paradise, Let's hear it for the Boy and of course the unforgettable title track Footloose.
The Spa Pavilion Summer Youth Project, now in it's eighth year, provides an opportunity for budding young stars int he local area aged between 9 and 23 to stage and perform a full-scale musical under expert professional supervision.
Over a two week period the cast are put through an intensive rehearsal schedule, learning all stage techniques including performance, lighhting, sound and music. Int her second week the show is performed to the paying public in full costume.
