Thursday 2nd July
Joe Longthorne
Joe's big break came in 1981 as a finalist on London Weekend Television's Search For A Star - this led to appearances at the London Palladium. Later, Joe received the Variety Club of Britain award as Most Promising Artiste of the Year. Television specials in the UK and USA followed. Joe's repertoire of voices is endless and includes hundreds of the world's top singers; however, he is perhaps best known for his impersonation of Shirley Bassey who has commented, 'Joe can do me better than I can do myself'. In 1989 and at the pinnacle of his career Joe was diagnosed with Lymphoma. In 2005 Joe had a bone marrow transplant that very nearly killed him. He edged his way back to recovery returning to the stage with a sell-out show at the London Palladium in 2006. Finally cured of his seventeen year illness he now had a new lease on life and in 2007 the Variety Club's Most Promising Artiste of '83 was awarded their most coveted of accolades; the Lifetime Achievement Award which placed him amongst a galaxy of past recipients like Sinatra, Garland and Fitzgerald. Now, the time is right for Joe Longthorne. He has fought and won the battle against cancer and is looking forward to new challenges, new songs to sing and new audiences to thrill. As entertainment comes full circle he has earnt a very special place in live performance where he reigns supreme. Don’t miss this opportunity to see Joe Longthorne at his best live on stage.

A Gala Showcase of Young Felixstowe
Young Felixstowe celebrates their town in song, dance, drama and choir as they look to raise funds for Macmilllan Cancer Support and for the building of our Guide H.Q. Three families have created the evening to bring together their memories of loved ones: Ann Rodwell, former Mayor and County Council Chairman, Janet Bloomfield, Guide Leader extraordinaire and Aloka Charlton, mother to Hannah, Daisy, Betty, Flora and Oscar.
Suffolk Coastal Youth Opportunity Fund has funded Felixstowe’s Southernwood Stage School to create a youth stage performance. At the heart of the production is the story and sublime music of the singer Karen Carpenter. Their performance powerfully weaves the Carpenter songs, such as "Top of the World" and "(They Long to Be) Close to You”, alongside their own contemporary music, words and dance.
Led by Richard Healey local Musical Director, Composer and Arranger, The Colneis Division of Guides, Brownies and Rainbows will perform as a massed choir. Their choice of songs freely expresses their pride in the wonderful achievements brought about by the generations of children and young people who have been at the heart of the town’s uniformed youth groups.
